Joining the Fight

How-to
Josh. 24:15; Isa. 14:12–14; Rom. 1:25

Cast out from heaven for his rebellion, Satan now seeks to hurt God in the most effective way—misleading those God loves the most: humans.

When we stray from God, when we choose to put other things in front of our relationship with God, we’re not only supporting Satan in his battle, we’re piercing a knife into God’s heart.

At its core, the great controversy is about worship. Do we choose to worship God? Or do we choose to put our focus on the accumulation of wealth, success and a misguided understanding of pleasure and fun?

We are living in a war zone. It’s time we acted like soldiers (Eph. 6:11, 12):

Obey the Commander. What is your priority in life? (Matt. 6:19–21). What do your thoughts dwell on the most? (Phil. 4:8). Does God influence your decisions in life and your behavior? (Mic. 6:8).

Train to maintain fitness. Human nature is inherently sinful. It is only through constant communion with God that we will find the strength and wisdom to battle against Satan. Spend time reading the Bible and in prayer. In times of trouble and distress, God will speak and we will recognise His voice.

Leave no man behind. How do we treat our fellow humans? (Eph. 4:2). Do our actions cause others to be discouraged or upset?

Recruit others. Heaven rejoices when we choose to acknowledge Jesus as our Savior (Luke 15:7). God does not need us to win the fight, but God does not want to lose us to the fight. God weeps whenever one of us chooses Satan over Him.

REACT
1. What are the “created things” (Rom. 1:25) that you are worshipping and serving in your life?
2. If God does not need us to win the fight, what purpose do humans serve in this world?
3. What can you do to recruit other soldiers for God?
