The View From... February 2018 - #truelove
Rex Bald is the pen name of one of our contributors who shares their poetry on condition of anonymity.
This poem describes the yearning for companionship experienced by many a young adult.
This “high and holy principle,”
I pray one day will be mine.
But until I find and share it
I know I won’t feel fine.
There are things out there much cheaper,
Unworthy, and unrefined;
They seem good enough for what I want.
Am I willing to cross that line?
That line so easily crossed by many,
For they are not willing to see
That Jesus has something better for them;
Not only for them but me.
But it’s me! It’s ME!
I know what’s good for me!
Do I trust in God or follow my heart?
That’s the great controversy.
Oh “high and holy principle,”
You led Jesus to the cross.
Now I must decide in my heart,
Is Jesus or are my feelings boss?
“True love is a high and holy principle, altogether different in character from that love which is awakened by impulse, and which suddenly dies when severely tested.” Adventist Home, p50.
